How much money is needed to start a home care business in the UK?
The answer depends on whether you are buying a franchise, buying an existing home care business or starting one from scratch. This page will only deal with the latter i.e How much money is needed to start your own home care business?
I started Quality Home Care in November 2015 and I got approval from the CQC in March 2016.
Therefore an important cost to consider is pre – CQC approval costs. You will not be allowed to market your business or take on any customers until you have approval from CQC. Basically you have to set up an office, have policies and procedures in place and a registered manager but not be allowed to trade!
You may even be refused by the CQC – but if you have done your homework this seems unlikely.
Starting a home care business requires not just money but self discipline because waiting for CQC approval is a nightmare.
How much money is needed before you get CQC approval.

My biggest fear as in running any business is that you run out of money. If this happens you lose all what you have already spent with no chance of recovering it.
You need to do as much for your self as possible. For example I designed and created the Quality Home Care website – saving Hundreds in web design fees. I operate the payroll and do the accounts Saving on accountants fees.
So how much money do I think you need to start a home care business in the uk?
I think you need at least £15,000 liquid capital available after you have incurred the above costs and got approval from the CQC. This should be your working capital to cover the wages of the care workers as the business grows.
Remember employing care workers is by far your biggest cost.
